Kai has been taking full advantage of these beautiful Spring days. While he truly misses his friends and teachers from school, he is using this time at home to explore all the new life arounds his woods.
Endless hours of trampoline fun
Noticing that the garlic he helped plant last fall is coming up
Moving our bug hotel to a warm spot... the eggs left in there from last summer may hatch soon
Biggest helper in the gardens. Counting pea seeds is fun.
Helping make raised wattle beds
Planting some cabbages - I love digging in the dirt
Trillium is one of the first flowers around here
Hi Kai,
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to see your smiling face-your hair is getting so long! It's incredible to see all the changes that are happening right now, and how amazing that you're making observations and noticing each one.
I found a few trillium the other day, and they always make me happy, because they mean spring is here. I also planted peas, too, and I think they're really fun to plant because of how large the seeds are. What other things do you have growing in your garden? What are your favorite things to eat from your garden, and what are your favorite things to help harvest?
I hope you enjoy a relaxing rainy weekend with your family-the rain will surely help things grow!
Your Friend,
Julia
Hi Kai,
ReplyDeleteYou have so much going on in your yard! Your garden looks like it is off to a great start. Will you tell me about wattle beds? What are they for?
Maura
Hi Ms. Maura,
ReplyDeleteWattle beds are raised beds we made by weaving branches. Wattle has been used for a very long time, a primitive skill, and can be used to make fences or raised beds, or containers. It's pretty time consuming, but worth it in the end :)
